We are one of the world’s most research-intensive chemical companies. From life-saving therapeutics and bio-based products to high-performance silicones, polymers and hyperpure polysilicon. WACKER is more than a chemical company: WACKER is innovation.

Sustainability as a business case.

For WACKER, sustainability is not just a matter close to our hearts, but an opportunity. More than two thirds of our products already contribute to sustainability. At the same time, we are continuously working on our own CO2 footprint. By 2030, we want to halve our absolute CO2 emissions compared with 2020. We want to be completely climate-neutral by 2045 at the latest.

WACKER SILICONES

Silicones Are Truly Multi-Talented.

We encounter silicone every day - in smartphones, cars, textiles, paints and coatings, but also medical applications. Silicones have unique properties and are of unmatched versatility compared with other synthetic materials.

Silicones have unique properties and are of unmatched versatility compared with other synthetic materials. Silicones withstand both heat and cold. Not only are they sealants and insulators, but also lubricants and release agents. They are flexible, water-repellent, elastic, UV-resistant and extremely durable. Thanks to their unique chemical and physical properties, they feature in many application areas and appear everywhere in daily life – even if we don’t usually notice them!

WACKER SILICONES is a major pillar of WACKER's business. Founded in 1947 as Europe's first silicone manufacturer, it is now the world's second-largest silicone manufacturer.

WACKER SILICONES offers customers our broadest range of products. Two raw materials – silicon metal and methanol – are the basis for making over 2,800 silicone products in seven product groups: silanes, siloxanes, silicone fluids, silicone emulsions, silicone elastomers, silicone resins and pyrogenic silica.

and supply them to more than 5,000 customers worldwide.

We develop new products and production processes with our customers at 14 technical centers around the world. We also have three of the most highly integrated production sites in the industry. Additionally, we use our own supply chain and packaging solutions to deliver products to customers safely and quickly.

WACKER SILICONES is a global company that provides comprehensive silicone solutions, including products, services, and strategies. Wacker Asahikasei Silicone was established as the Japanese base for the WACKER SILICONES business division.

Global Networks

WACKER's Global Network

WACKER has strategically located its technical centers and production sites in each region to meet local demands. This enables our local sales and technical experts to accurately understand customer needs, ensuring swift problem-solving and reliable product supply. In 2010, WACKER acquired the metallurgical silicon plant in Holla, Norway, and is currently expanding its production capacity. This contributes to stabilizing the supply of metallurgical silicon—one of the key raw materials for silicone—while also helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Approximately half of the plant’s annual electricity requirements are met by hydropower.

We have 14 technical centers worldwide, where we develop new products and production processes together with our customers. We also have production sites in 16 locations globally, including our highly integrated production sites in Burghausen and Nünchritz, Germany, and Zhangjiagang, China, which are the most advanced in the silicone industry. Our network in Asia, particularly in Japan, South Korea, China, and India, is well-established, allowing us to supply products to Japan and local subsidiaries in the shortest possible time from production sites related to each business unit.

Our production site in Panagarh, India, which commenced operations in July 2022, plays a key role in our global growth strategy. Located in an area with excellent infrastructure and logistics, the site manufactures heat-curing silicone rubber (HCR), liquid silicone rubber (LSR), and fully compounded silicone products for applications in e-mobility, medical devices, and power transmission and distribution. In addition, the facility produces silicone oils and emulsions for use in cosmetics, textiles, and personal care products. The construction of the factory incorporated numerous measures to minimize environmental impact. For example, river water used in manufacturing is supplied via a dedicated pipeline to protect groundwater resources.

WACKER plans to continue investing to meet the growing demand in Asia and to strengthen its position as a leading supplier, further contributing to the development of regional industries.
